Cannery
Row Records
is a record label which is based in Berlin but
has a very international outlook. Music and musicians
have always been restless, and Berlin is a place
that has always attracted artists from all over
the world, some passing through, some intending
to pass through, and some setting up here for good.
Cannery Row Records is an extension of an informal
network of musicians and music lovers around the
world which has built up over many years. The individual
styles of music may vary, but whether it is folk,
country or garage rock, we are only interested in
working musicians who sing and play from the heart.
DEMO POLICY - In order to save your cost and our time
please call our office before mailing in a demo.
A nice way to introduce your music to our A&R comitee
is an invitation for one of your Live Gigs - Cannery
Row Records supports active musicianship.
Who's who
Frank Klaffs holds a university
degree in business administration and a non-academic
degree in being a music lover. Frank has worked
in the music industry for many years, amongst other
things as a long-term label-manager for Piranha
Records (Berlin) and Gee Street Records (London).
Since 1999 he has been running his own PR and consulting
agency in Berlin, whose customers include companies
like BMG, Rykodisc/Hannibal, Universal, world music
expo WOMEX, Mr. Bongo and Piranha Musik. From 2002
until 2004 Frank was the manager and press spokesman
of the Label-Commission Berlin - a music business
network of over 70 independent companies from the
Berlin region.
Frank also sings and plays harmonica with Berlin band
Five Pints per Mile.
Mark Mulholland has been making
music professionally for almost two decades, playing
solo and with a wide range of bands, as well as session
work and recording projects. He has also been involved
in running and booking a music venue, concert booking,
tour management and is a partner in Berlin's only international
bookshop, which is also host to regular concerts and
readings from local and visiting artists.
Richard Meissner has finally
- after extensive travels around the
world - become a Berlin based lawyer who runs his own
successful legal practice in Berlin. He has always had
a keen interest in music but not enough talent to play
an instrument. After two decades of friendship with
Mark he joined the Cannery Row music project with the
aim of creating
a platform for artists and musicians who live &
love music. His business structure and administrative
skills enable him to work behind the scenes.
